Guyana Series Solo Exhibition

I had a solo exhibition in the Special Exhibits Gallery at The Arts Center of Greenwood
(120 Main Street, Greenwood, South Carolina) in conjunction with the exhibition "A New Face," February 1-28, 2015. Below are the paintings I had on display.

New Painting Series - No. 1 & 2

My current body of work consists of self portraits painted on 24" x 24" wooden panels covered with salvaged wallpaper. While working on these, the vintage patterns and musty smell of the paper give me a wonderful sense of nostalgia. Most of the paper that I've found is already open, so it's intriguing to imagine why the original owners chose each particular pattern. The process of finding the paper, building the panels, and then placing the old forgotten paper on the new panels, is intensely gratifying. Not only is it giving me an opportunity to paint in a different context, but its bringing an entirely new purpose to the paper. The titles are still in progress, but for now, here are the first two in the series:

Magnetic Collision Exhibit

Suzanne (Sy) Bodson invited me to collaborate with her to create 2 pieces of artwork for the exhibition Magnetic Collision held at Art & Light Studios. Each of us started a piece of artwork independently with no constraints or guidelines on a 12" x 24" clay board panel. We then switched pieces and let the other one finish the work.

4th Annual Festival of Flowers Juried Show

I have one painting, Apprehension, in this years Festival of Flowers Annual Juried Show held at the Arts Center of Greenwood Main Gallery.


Exhibition dates are June 2nd - July 3rd, 2014. The reception and awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 21st from 5:00-7:00 pm with awards announced at 6:00 pm.

"From the Artist’s Perspective" at The Reserve at Lake Keowee

Beginning on May 5th, Artists Chris Hartwick, John Pendarvis, and Megan Heuse, and Miranda Mims Sawyer will join us for a new exhibit “From the Artist’s Perspective” at the Hill House.  A reception for the artists will be on Sunday, May 18^th from 4:30-6PM.  This exhibit will last until June 30^th.  All these artists also exhibit their work with the Artist Guild Gallery at 200 N. Main in Greenville.

Anderson Arts Center's 39th Annual Juried Art Show
