New Series: Self Portrait 4

I have been working on a new series of self portraits for the past few months, all are the same size, oil on panel. I've really enjoyed working on these, and not only has helped me develop my painting skills but it has made me think of my body differently. Creating these has forced me to stare at my body for long periods of time and undoubtedly changed my self image for the better. I hope when I have finished painting these and learning about myself, I can use this series and my experience to help other women who have struggled with the same insecurities that have haunted me my entire life.

25th Northern National Art Competition

I will have one piece in the 25th Northern National Art Competition, that is held at Nicolet College Art Gallery, in Rhinelander, WI.  The opening reception is Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 5:00pm.

Nursery Mural

I thought this was worth sharing. My sister is due in September, so I ventured to Charlotte this past weekend to paint my little niece to be a mural.

SC Festival of Flowers Juried Art Show 2012

I will have two paintings from my Guyana series in the Arts Center of Greenwood's SC Festival of Flowers Juried Art Show 2012. The reception is on June 23rd, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The awards will be announced at 6:00 pm. The Arts Center is located at 120 Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Pickens County Museum's 33rd Annual Juried Exhibition

The tickets to the event are $15 for Contemporaries Members and $30 for Non-Members gets you an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. All the artwork for sale is created by South Carolina artists that was hand picked by a jury of Contemporaries' members.

New Painting/Series

This new series is based on photos taken in Georgetown, Guyana, South America, at different orphanages throughout the city.  During my time there I was able to witness the way these children lived and how amazing they all can be regardless of circumstance. I truly enjoyed painting this and  hope that my experience can be shared through this piece and others soon to come.
